Which Market Data feed should I take?

Modified on Fri, 27 Dec at 2:20 PM

  • When purchasing an evaluation, please select the market data feed you need from the drop down options menu.
  • By default, we will provide Level 1, top of book data, for all of the CME group Exchanges.
  • If you would like Level 2 Depth of Market data, please select which Exchange you need that data for (CME, CBOT, COMEX, NYMEX).
  • You can purchase additional market data feeds at your own expense, please click here for details.

During the 14-day free trial, you will have access to all the permitted products at TradeDay.

During the Evaluation Challenge, TradeDay covers market data fees for only 1 Exchange feed.

Click here to see a list of permitted products.

When you join TradeDay as a paying member, you can continue to receive real-time live market data for all the permitted products if you select the Top Of Book (Level 1) data feed.

This data feed shows you the last traded price and volume, and the best bid and offer price and volume. Top of Book (Level 1) provides all the information you need to trade, and all the market data you need for most charting packages. You will be able to trade from the charts on all the permitted products.

However, if you require Depth of Market data (level 2) then you will need to choose which Exchange feed you would like to take (CME, CBOT, NYMEX, COMEX) and be restricted to trading on those products associated with that Exchange data feed.  A list of available products sorted by Exchange feed can be found by clicking here.

For example, if you are trading oil and energy products, and you need level 2 data, you will want to take the NYMEX data feed.  If you are trading currencies and E-minis, and you need level 2 data, then you will want the CME data feed.

You are able to purchase additional level 2 data feeds at your own cost, the option is available inside Tradovate. Here is an FAQ on where you will find it. Can I change my market data feed?

If you succeed in getting funded, and you choose the Funded Live option, you will be trading the trading group's capital, this means you will be considered a Market Professional by the definition of the Exchange.  As such you are required to pay for your own market data. This is $140 per month, per Exchange feed.

To help with this additional cost, we will also stop charging you the TradeDay monthly membership fee, but still give you full access to the site!

After you pass the Evaluation Challenge, we will help you set this up.

Funded Sim traders will not be required to purchase the professional market data feed.
